Teens credited with saving woman from domestic assault | News
Two teenage boys are being credited with saving a McMinn County woman's life.
According to Sheriff Joe Guy, the boys, Devon Green, 15, and Chase McCallister, 13, heard an argument Tuesday at a neighbor's home.
They saw the 38-year-old woman who uses a wheelchair come outside on the porch and scream for help. Then a man came outside, assaulted her, and pulled her back inside.
The boys called 911.
"Chase and Devon were very courageous to make call," said Sheriff Guy. "They did a great job in staying on the line and keeping the dispatcher and our responding deputies updated with what was happening."
Arriving deputies found the woman inside the house, injured and unconscious, along with evidence of a domestic assault. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Timothy Hitt, 36, was charged with aggravated domestic assault and especially aggravated kidnapping.
"Our officers felt that the actions of these two young men likely saved Ms Hiehle's life," added Sheriff Guy. "They deserve to be recognized for what they did."
Chase McCallister and Devon Green were presented with commendation letters at the McMinn County Sheriff's Office to reward them for the efforts.
