Pastry baker started her career in Animal Science

She always loved to bake but it wasn't her first career path.

"I intended to be a veterinarian. Exotic animals is what I was in to," Anissa Shull said.

She earned a degree in Animal Science but working in that field wasn't fulfilling. So she made her way into culinary school and met her husband stuart along the way.

"We've been here for about ten years now, exactly, and we can't imagine being anywhere else. It really suits us, it called to us," she said.

As many high school seniors begin to prepare for college, one local scholarship program is gearing up for a higher number of applicants this year.

"tnAchieves" provides assistance to public school students who continue their education at a community college. In East Tennessee, those schools include Pellissippi State Community College, Roane State Community College, and Walter State Community college.

The "last dollar" scholarship provides funds to cover whatever tuition costs remain after financial aid and other scholarships.

Two women are facing charges accused of stabbing an older woman and then robbing her.

It happened Thursday at a home on Pedigo Road in Madisonville.

Officers say the 71-year-old victim told them that a woman approached her while she was in her yard and said she and the second suspect were having car problems and needed to borrow a rag.

The victim says she went into her home to get one, and the woman followed her inside and stabbed her twice, then stole her wallet.

The campground, which is owned by the Stokely Company of Knoxville, annually brought Monroe County more than $5,000 in lodging tax revenue, according to Tellico Plains Mayor Patrick Hawkins.

The Stokely Company released this statement on its decision July 30:

A current $100 bill is filled with security features like a watermark, hologram and special strip that says what currency it is.

HomeGrown: Jeff Joslin, Actor

This summer, Jeff Joslin made it to the big screen.

"I play Tyler Perry's boss. I'm a federal prosecutor."

You could say he's come a long way from Cedar Bluff Elementary.

"We did the play "Rumpelstiltskin" and I had one line."

That was Joslin's first brush with acting, but, back then, he was more interested in sports.

"At age 6, I started playing football and that's all I wanted to do. I wanted to be a professional athlete."
