Domino's gives free pizza to homes with working smoke detectors

To make sure residents in their communities have working smoke alarms, firefighters in Harriman and Sweetwater are teaming up with Domino's Pizza.

Monday evening, Harriman firefighters followed pizza delivery workers to random homes in their jurisdiction. If the person in that home had smoke detectors that worked, then Domino's gave them a free pizza for dinner. If the alarm didn't work, firefighters replaced it for free.

Domino's employees say the program is a great way to make sure people are protected.

Vols bye weekend a busy time for wedding vendors

Wedding bells are ringing across East Tennessee this weekend thanks to the Vols bye week.

"It is the busiest weekend of all wedding weekends," Wedding planner Brenda Johnson said.

Her company, One Enchanted Evening, is planning three weddings this weekend and she had to turn even more brides away.

"Probably had about 8 to call," she said.

It's an East Tennessee tradition to get hitched when UT football is off. Something Johnson knows from years of planning around the football schedule.
