UPDATE: Missing Madisonville woman found safe

Thursday 12:10 p.m.

Authorities Thursday morning made contact with a Madisonville woman who was reported missing earlier this week, according to Madisonville Police Chief Gregg Breeden.

Breeden said 54-year-old Julia Wilbur is doing fine and appears to be in good health.

Kingsport man electrocuted at McMinn Co. farm

(WBIR) A Kingsport man was electrocuted while unloading grain into a silo at a McMinn County farm Wednesday morning.

Bill Dougherty, 63, was trying to blow feed grain from his tanker truck into a feed silo when the truck's boom touched some power lines, according to McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy. The end of the truck quickly burst into flames, and people nearby weren't able to save him.

The incident happened at a farm on Country Road 609 at about 8:45 a.m.

Dougherty worked for Koch foods.

Driver out of hospital after boat runs ashore, hits tree

(WBIR) A boat traveled 40 feet across dry land before hitting a tree in Monroe County over the weekend, according to a Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency spokesperson.

Dan Hicks with TWRA said Allen Harper, 33, of Sweetwater was driving at a fast rate of speed when his 18-foot boat ran ashore on Tellico Lake near the Toqua Campground at about 10 p.m. Friday.

Crews airlifted two men and drove another to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Three sent to hospital after boating accident

(WBIR) Three people were sent to the hospital after their boat crashed in Monroe County.

The Tennessee Wildlife and Resource Agency (TRWA) said the accident happened Friday night at around 10 p.m. near the Toqua Campground on Tellico Lake.

TWRA officials said 18-foot vessel hit the shore at a high speed, injuring three men on board. Two of the men had to be flown to UT Medical Center, the third was taken to UTMC by ambulance.

Former Monroe road workers get $500K settlement

Seventeen Monroe County road workers who say they were fired because they supported their boss' political opponent got a victory this week in court.

According to attorney David Garrison, the workers reached a $500,000 settlement with their former employers, Monroe County, Tennessee government and its Road Superintendent, Steve Teague.

Cherokee dancer & historian killed in accident

An electrocution accident has claimed the life of a popular Cherokee dancer.

The accident happened in Etowah on Monday.

A McMinn County Sheriff's Office report shows Scott Crisp and a friend were working on wiring in Crisp's catering truck when Crisp was shocked.

His friend kicked the wires away, called 9-1-1, and started C.P.R. Crisp died after being taken to a nearby hospital.

Vonore man charged with raping teen he met on Facebook

A Vonore man is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on Facebook.

Brian Hill, 31, is facing several charges including aggravated statutory rape.

Court documents show Hill started communication with the girl through Facebook, then sent her explicit photos of himself. He asked her to do the same for him.

Documents show they later had sex on four different occasions.

The investigation began after the girl's mother called the sheriff's office.
